Three kids, One dog, One roll, Once a month

This year I am participating in a film circle called One kid, One roll, Once a month, except I have three kids and a dog and squeezed them all on the roll. I didn’t plan to include the pup but she came and photobombed us, and I thought, hey she is part of the family, just let her come in 🙂
I used Ilford XP2 C-41 and will probably move to a real black and white film for the next months. I developed and scanned them myself, and added contrast to my liking, I am not sure what this Ilford is supposed to look like.

It was fun to do and I am looking forward to progressing and trying new techniques each month and seeing the change in the children.

I scanned these and spent a crazy amount of time removing dust and then by mistake threw them in my computer trash, so I had to rescan, and there is still dust & watermarks on them. I apologize.

  1. Lea, these are priceless! Someday I’d love to learn developing myself. I know it’s work, but the process intrigues me!

    1. Thank you Joyce, I agree it’s time consuming, but waiting for scans kills me sometimes, it;s so nice to shoot, develop and scan the same day. …and then spend 3 days removing dust ;-)))

  5. These are so lovely Lea! The window light is perfect.
I have a love/hate relationship with developing and scanner at home, I can never get the dust to go away. 😛 I’m looking forward to seeing more as the year goes on.

  7. Simply beautiful. Eh, dust is part of life 🙂 I wonder if we could create a ‘dust and scratches’ action for all those digital shooters who are desperately trying to make their images look like film. I jest, sort of.

  8. Lea, these are so fun and beautiful! I’m a sucker for motion blur. I also love that you included your dog, like I am doing. You’ve inspired me to get out my Ilford C41 film too – I think it looks beautiful! I’m excited to see what you do with this project. 🙂

    1. thank you Kim, I can not guarantee that Ilford C-41 is supposed to look like this, I added quite a bit of contrast, i don’t know what i it is supposed to look like, and since i was scanning it myself and just adjusted it to my liking. I adored the photos of your girl and her pup! so adorable.
